Vatan Arena, by Bodegas Ordóñez, brings a pure taste. It is a unique tempranillo, one of the oldest wines in Spain, without interfering with the american patrón. It comes frome the only DO that remained impassive against the onslaught of phylloxera.

Located in the most popular winemaking production área in the Spain of the Middle Ages, mentioned by Alfonso IX (King of León, sXII), Arcipreste de Hita, Quevedo, Luis de Góngora or Miguel de Cervantes… Back to VIX in Seville, any foreign wine was prohibited except wine of Toro, as it was the wine that carried the discoverers of America…

Vatan Arena is a wide wine, soft, sweet dark berries as well as tannic. Jorge Ordóñez and the Eguren family rediscovered the Toro área through Numanthia Project…

It is a traditional unirrigated viticulture, a low vine plantation system, manual and organic cultivation. Year of plantation: 1900. Its climate is a continental steppe climate, with huge thermal variations between the day and night. A dry climate with annual rainfall of 350lt/m2, less than the half at La Rioja and quite lower than Ribera de Duero…

730 meters height, DO total plot takes to 5.500 hectares. The harvest takes us to the end of September, beginning of October. It goes in boxes, wild yeast, open fermenters and malolactic in french oak Bordeaux and Burgundy…

We are talking about 100% Tinta de Toro, 22 months of barrel ageing and bottled unfined nor unfiltered. Production takes up to 2.400 bottles approximately which it comes to be around 800 boxes of three bottles…
